So You Want Teach Yoga

Maybe you have been studying yoga for awhile and started to take to the idea of becoming an yoga instructor. You realize that the position of teaching will require you to show your students the poses and postures, but also the breathing involved with practising yoga correctly. You may also question what type of a living can be earned from becoming an instructor. There are many things that will determine your income, where you live and the ability to sell your services are amongst the top. If you are thinking about teaching yoga to students then you should have a big passion for the art. If you do have that passion then guiding people down their yoga path can be very rewarding. It is important to show that passion to new students by creating a warm and inviting atmosphere as well as having all the equipment and everything ready for the students when they arrive to follow your instruction.

You may think that practising yoga to a group of students is the way that you will make your entire income. It should by noted that many yoga instructors find that they can add to their income by teaching privately to students on a one-on-one basis. In order to add individual training to your income you must be highly organized and a good communicator. It can also be very rewarding to watch a student progress through this type of training. It should be noted as well that many of these sessions take place on evenings and weekends so you should understand that these are the times you should be available to teach.

Many job opportunities are available right now for those who are certified. Many of those establishments that are looking to hire yoga instructors will require their teachers to be certified, if you are then the prospects of finding a job are good.

As a yoga instructor you are basically a business unto yourself. You therefore need to remember that there will be no dental plan or retirement fund waiting for you once you have found a job. If you feel like these are important things to have then you need to set up your own way of taking care of your future needs.

According to a recent Los Angeles Times article instructors earn around an hour and some studios will add – per student for any class with more then ten students. If you find a job working in a corporate setting then you could earn an hour or more.

Should you decide that yoga instruction is a path you wish to explore you should find that instilling passion for the art of yoga is a rewarding and lucrative career. You can show your students the benefits of practising yoga regularly and at the same time build a healthy lifestyle and career for yourself.
